Miss World 2000 Priyanka Chopra, the fifth Indian to win the coveted crown was born on 18th July 1982 in Mumbai to Capt. Dr. Ashok Chopra and Dr. Madhu Chopra. Her upbringing in a family belonging to the army has made her travel widely all over the country and has exposed her to the multi cultural Indian society. Priyanka was a resident student of La Martiniere Girls College in Lucknow and studied for a short while at Maria Goretti College in Bareilly. Having completed class 10th from Boston USA her ambition was to become a software Engineer or a Criminal Psychologist. Priyanka's interest in modeling implanted in her a desire to win the Miss World beauty pageant, a dream she claims to have held for six years. Back in India from US she participated in the Femina miss India contest and then the World pageant which changed her life drastically. Her family, especially her mother has been her sole inspiration.
