In India, parents are
considered as next to God. Here, people respect their parents so much that they
consider it a sin to disobey them.
Indian parents expect their
children to look after them in old age. When their son gets married, they are
overjoyed by the arrival of the daughter in law, feeling more secure and
comfortable.
Most of the Indian families
take good care of their elders but unfortunately there are people who
treat their parents as liabilities making them feel neglected.
Dr.K
Tabassum who is working as faculty in St
Anns College raises her voice against the rapid growth of Adult Care homes. she
works for the betterment of the society through her students in teaching them
the Human Values which are being irretrievable these days.
We are given
life and bought up with all the possible comforts arranged by our parents
but,due to the busy schedule or unhealthy relationship between family members .
They are shifted to Adult care homes, It’s not an easy decision for the parents. But,
they have to move to these houses when they can no longer tolerate the insult
or they are told by their stone-hearted children to leave the house.
Tabassum says she is
inspired by Mother Teresa in serving the underprivileged and also says that we
should first prove ourselves with our own talent so that we can raise a small hope for the coming generations
to succeed in their life.
Moreover she strongly says that the
implementation of Ethical Values led to the transformation of present society
into a better society.
People must realize their
responsibility towards the parents who need physical and emotional support in
the late years of their life.
