is GATE exam ?
Graduate Aptitude Test in
Engineering is an examination, it opens the gateway to prestigious public
organisations as well as in the field of research and for post graduation
studies for engineering students. GATE is an All-India examination, it has been
administered and conducted in eight zones across the col, entry by the GATE
Committee comprising of the Faculty members from IISc, Bangalore and remaining
seven IIT’s on behalf of the National Coordinating Board, Department of
Education, and Ministry of Human Resources Development.
What
is the knowledge required to write the gate exam?
Either bachelor's degree level knowledge of the opted engineering
discipline or master's degree level
knowledge of the chosen science discipline.
What
is the main objective to conduct this exam?
To provide admissions to post-graduation of engineering, and so many
PSUs accept it is a common screening test for entry-level engineering jobs.
Based on this exam score various Indian engineering colleges offer
post-graduate education, and several public sector Indian companies recruit
engineers.
What
is the payable amount of fee to apply for gate exam?
Rs.1, 500 (US$21) for all other Indian candidates. US $ 50 for
international candidates. Rs.750 (US$10) for Indian female, SC, ST, and
physically challenged candidates.
What
is the exam pattern?
It is a computer based test with 65 questions for 100 marks. the
total duration of time 3 hours. Marks out of 100, in 0.33 point increments.
Score (scaled) out of 1000, in 1 point increments. The validity of secured
score is 3 years. Totally 660 exam centres are there in India, Bangladesh,
Ethiopia, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and United Arab Emirates. The exam paper
appears in the language of English only. Every year this exam Is conducted in
the month of February.
