Kasauli is situated in Solan, Himachal Pradesh, India at an altitude if 1,795 metres. The cantonment was established in 1842 by the British colonial rulers as a hill station. It is known for brewery and distillery products. There is a Hanuman Mandir at the top of the 300 metre high hillock, called Monkey Point, where Lord Hanuman is supposed to have rested his feet, on his way to getting the Sanjeevani herb. This temple lies within the confines of an air force radar station and base and is subject to security restrictions.
