Daulatabad meaning either "Built by the Government" or “City of Prosperityâ€, depending on the source; known in some Western references as Deogiri.), was once (circa the sixth century AD) an important uplands city along caravan routes and is now but a village, based around the former city of the same name. It is in Maharashtra, India, about 20 miles northwest of Aurangabad.
The tourist season extends almost through out the year in the Aurangabad region. April to July are the summer months which are fairly warm. The rainy season, from August to October is very pleasant, and the winter months, from November to March are the coolest.
